More Than A Name...It's How We Do Business
Dripping faucet, a kitchen sink that won’t drain, or a garbage disposal that hums and quits? Golden Rule Plumbing handles faucet repair and replacement, kitchen and bathroom sink installation, and garbage disposal repair and replacement throughout Phoenixville Borough and ZIP code 19460, plus Schuylkill Township, East Pikeland and Charlestown, usually in a single visit. We are about 25 minutes from our West Chester shop, and in most cases we can give you a price range over the phone before we come out. Estimates are free.
Ask about pricing when you call. A range for most jobs, often a firm number from photos.

Faucets. A drip or a stiff handle is usually a worn cartridge, and if the faucet is a quality brand with parts still available, a repair makes sense. When the finish is pitted, the body is corroded underneath, or the manufacturer no longer makes the cartridge, a new faucet is the better spend. Chester County’s hard water scales up cartridges and aerators faster than most people expect, so if you are replacing the same cartridge every couple of years, a softener is worth a conversation. We can supply a quality faucet or install one you’ve already picked out.
Garbage disposals. A jam or a tripped reset button is a quick fix. A disposal that leaks from the bottom, or that trips its breaker repeatedly, has usually failed internally and should be replaced. We provide InSinkErator disposals, typically 1/2 horsepower, and a typical swap where we supply the unit runs $500 to $625 including the unit, labor, and the trip. Current code calls for the disposal to plug into an outlet under the sink rather than be hardwired; a lot of the borough’s older kitchens don’t have one, and we can add it as part of the job. If you are on septic out in the townships, you will want a septic-safe model with an enzyme injection cartridge, which we can supply.
Sinks. Cracked basins, rusted-through strainers, and remodels are the usual reasons for a new kitchen or bathroom sink. In the borough’s rowhomes and Victorians we also replace a lot of original wall-hung and pedestal sinks whose drains and shut-offs have simply worn out. We handle the drain and supply connections, the trap, and the disposal or dishwasher hookups so everything under the cabinet is done at once.
Most of this work is priced by the job, and in most cases we can give you a range over the phone. Call 610-701-3371 or use the form above.
Phoenixville kitchens and baths run the full range. The rowhomes and twins around Bridge Street and the Victorians near Reeves Park were built for iron and steel workers more than a century ago, and many still have original wall-hung sinks, hardwired disposals, and shut-offs that haven’t turned in decades. The townhome communities built along the river over the past twenty years are the opposite problem: builder-grade faucets and disposals all reaching the end of their life at the same time. We see both every week, and we work with a number of borough landlords who want a dripping faucet or a dead disposal handled the same day a tenant calls.
We’ve done about 50 faucet, sink and disposal calls in Phoenixville since last summer. A few recent ones:

At Golden Rule Plumbing, our name is our philosophy. We treat every Chester County homeowner the way we’d want to be treated, which means clear pricing, no membership fees, and no salesman pushing services you don’t need.
Ask us about pricing when you call. For most jobs we can give you a realistic range over the phone, and for many, a firm number from a photo or two. That kind of transparency is rare in the trades, and it’s what’s kept Phoenixville homeowners calling us since 2007.
A typical swap where we supply the unit runs $500 to $625, including an InSinkErator 1/2 horsepower disposal, labor, and the trip. If you already bought a disposal, you only pay for the installation. Adding an under-sink outlet or switching to a septic-safe model adds to that, and we’ll quote it before we start.
Yes, and plenty of people in town do. About four in ten of the faucet jobs we’ve done in Phoenixville over the past year were fixtures the homeowner picked out. Send us the model when you call so we can confirm it fits, and we’ll quote the installation. If the shut-off valves under the sink are seized or leaking, which is common in the older borough homes, we’ll tell you before we replace them.
Under current code, yes. A disposal should plug into an outlet under the sink rather than be hardwired. Many of the borough’s older kitchens don’t have one, and we can install the outlet as part of the disposal job.
Yes. We work with a number of Phoenixville landlords and property managers on faucet, sink and disposal calls. Give us the address and the tenant’s contact, and we can schedule with them directly and bill you. If the unit is empty, a lockbox code works too.
